Be A Leader

Keep a cool head in order to recognize the best choices and make the best decisions regardless of the circumstances.

By adapting to your environment and the people in it, you are in a better position to find an effective way to guide a team to achieve specific goals.

According to The Art of Possibility, a book by the conductor of the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, Benjamin Zander, leadership is independent of which “chair” you sit on

Therefore one should be able to lead from any position or role in society.

Benjamin describes how he significantly increased his success as a conductor when he began to ask individual musicians to take more ownership of their music, because the one instrument a musician plays contributes to how the orchestra sounds as a whole. Benjamin further encouraged his orchestra to engage in open dialogue by sharing their perspectives and experiences with him. At the beginning of every rehearsal, each musician finds a blank white sheet on his/her chair, where it is possible to write down ideas, insights and feedback to share.

A good follower is able to read people well to understand their thought patterns and needs, which is why you can become a great leader through mastering how to be a good follower.
